A: Yes. Ask to meet with the DJ that is scheduled to perform at your event. A face to face meeting might be the determining factor in finding the right DJ. Whether you're on the phone or in person, pay attention to their personality and professionalism. Check with your DJ where can you come and observe the DJ’s performance.
Q: Should I have a written contract for my entertainment services?
A: Yes. A standard contract agreement should be provided outlining the services, duration, location, refund, cancellation and cost. The contract should be signed by both parties and a deposit amount should be included to reserve your event date and time. The company representative should be available to answer your questions and be sure to read all terms/conditions of the contract.
Q: Should the entertainment company have current liability insurance?
A: Yes. The entertainment company should have liability insurance on file and provide proof. Most Hotels, Banquet Halls, and other facilities require the Entertainment Company or host to provide this proof to the facilities in advance.
Q: Should I hire a Disc Jockey based on the cost of the service?

The DJ is one of the most important parts of your event. The DJ will entertain you and your guests with a great selection of music that is exciting and fun making your event memorable.
Q: Should I ask for lighting and special effects?
A: Yes. Lighting systems and special effects add a great atmosphere to any event. A professional entertainment service should offer this special equipment.
Q: What will be my DJ’s dress attire?
A: Depending on your event, there are four standard dress codes: Relax-company t-shirt and dark jeans; Casual-khaki pants and a company polo shirt; Business-Two piece suit with tie; Black Tie-Tuxedo. Be sure that you discuss your DJ’s attire during the planning stage.
Q: What will the Disc Jockey do to keep things moving within the timeframe during the event and will the Disc Jockey make the announcements?
A: In your initial meeting, you should be provided pre-planning forms and questionnaire. The DJ/MC will need the introduction sheet and the questionnaire forms your event. The information provided will allow the DJ/MC and you to devise a timeline for your event. We suggest hiring an event consultant to manage the vendors and much more in order for you to relax and enjoy your guests.
Q: When will the Disc Jockey arrive to setup and test the sound system?
A: The Disc Jockey will arrive 1-1 ½ hour prior to the start of your event. The DJ will need a table and chair in the designated area to setup the equipment. During this hour the DJ will perform audio system check to ensure the best sound & lighting for your event.
Q: Should a Disc Jockey have a back up system?
A: Yes. This is one of the most important questions you should ask. The back up equipment should be as professional as the main system and not personal stereo equipment.
Q: Is it appropriate to give a DJ gratuity? What is the appropriate gesture?
A: Yes. The gratuity depends on their over-all performance, including customer service and their assistance in all aspects of your event. The typical gratuity is 15% or more of your total cost. Gratuity is always appreciated and reassures your disc jockey of your satisfaction.
